Planting the Seeds (and Thanks)

November 24, 2010 No Comments

There is so much to be thankful for.

At the top of our list are our clients—without them, we just couldn’t keep doing the work that we love and value so much. A close second would be their customers. They keep coming back and that makes us very happy. We’re also incredibly grateful for the partners and coaches we work with. They help round out our passion and keep everything on track and focused.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. And as we discover the true meaning of thanksgiving, we are reminded of where it all began, the relationship and communication that came from seeds handed between Native American Indians and Pilgrims.

Many people see the fruits of labor that began with a seed. Yet, we would like to take that idea one step further… seeing a seed as a relationship with our past, present and future.

A seed is a form of communication, trust and contribution.

Did you know that, for centuries, people and animals have saved, shared and traded seeds? There is a huge history in seeds. There is an untold, but clearly obvious, love that comes from this practice. It’s a form of communication within our universe.

Think about what seeds have endured—climate, conditions and soils. It’s all about adapting to the changes that are natural and, in some cases, created by humankind. The seed can tell us what we need to know about its past so we can adjust appropriately.

The seed is perfect in the present moment. It hides its potential, while yearning for warmth of the soil or a loving surrounding. If you leave a seed out in the air, it simply shrivels up without care.

When cared for the seed attracts nutrients and grows into something new. Amazingly, just one seed can yield a new variety, strength or potential.

We are convinced that these ideas are analogous to good relationships and good communication within ourselves, companies, employees, partnerships, customers and the world we live in. Together may we continue to plant seeds so that our future is full of growth, potential, abundance and beauty.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
